Just picked up 1st E30.. Your $.02 is welcome.

Finally got my hands on a fine 325is for what i assume was a good deal($2500-5sp-133k). The Corrado was fun but when control arms fall off and flames shoot out for no reason it get's old fast, but the sound of the VR6 is what kept me hanging on so long.

Trying to find a clean E30 for cheap on island 44miles long isn't as easy as i planned it too be. so now after looking for the last 10 months it surfaced. The car wasn't on CL for 6hrs till it was sold.

And let me tell you (yeah you) that it's been worth every minute I've waited.

After totaling a E36 M3(young and stupid) and dealing with the outstanding reliability of the Corrado(broke n' Hopeless) i finally learned a lesson.. and young teens aren't a mix. Had to learn the hard way and what i got out of it was more important than what i lost.

so any 411 or advice would be great along w/ any tips N' tricks.

Oh and whats the best oil to use if I'm in Hawaii?(133k boneStock)

And The Futuras.. the guy wants $900! for a set w/ tires

First, buy the futuras! That's a pretty good deal if they are the correct specs for the e30.

Second, Congratulations on the purchase. That is a rather good deal you got. You need to replace the timing belt. Even if the guy said he "just replaced it" don't take his word for it. It's better to have piece of mind that you know it is new.

Other than that, drive the hell out of it and have fun!

Tints and windshield cover when you park the car to prevent UV damage to interior and prevent crack dash. ;)

Do a 2-3 stage Griot's polish on that thing followed by good wax.

        Convert to R34 A/C

Check and keep drain holes clear of debris

(these things come to mind since you're in Hawaii...)

Congrats and welcome to the obsession.

          Timing belt .... first thing
          Ignition tune up
FCABS and any other suspension components, end links, tie rods
Change PS ATF (uses dextron II auto transmissino fluid, trust me, yes...it does)
Tires make a huge diff in handling
Not feeling the Futuras... not for that price. Ronal LS would be better. BBS the best choice.
How is the interior? Sport seats or comfort seats. The comfort seats are an oxymoron, they are NOT comfortable. Find some sports, recaros or maybe Vaders.
BMW's are very fluid sensitive. Change them all. Right now. After the timing belt and water pump job. DIY it all. Including the suspension. You will be happy you learned how and safe a fortune.

          Good luck....

Welcome and congrats on your new addiction. Like everyone else said change your timing belt asap and also change all the fluids. You'll be very happy you did. Enjoy the car as is before you start modifying it (just my .02). Either way have fun w/ it!

Clay bar it and then wax, as a minimum. :)

Nice looking find there. Is there anywhere you can drive it over 35mph though?

Awesome feedback! Hell of a lot better than what i got over on some other forum's..

The guy i bought it off of is a tech at BMW of Hawaii, the belt and cooling was all takin' care of and the interior is Tan leather with Recaros(mint except for wear on bolster)
Futura's are 4X100 of a E30 over on the big island.. I called the guy today and should be shipping them soon.

Oil was changed yesterday w/ valvoline 20w50 synthetic blend. Diff and tran's ext weekend. Muffler was hanging off so we just pulled it off.(love the sound, thinking of just having pipes welded in for now). All in all it run's smooth and is a blast to drive on some of the back road's in Hawaii. some of the best view's in the world.

M3 and Rado pic's are up. Thanx for reminding me prick..lol

Young and stupid. I was goin around a exit ramp in 2nd gear after it rained about 20min's earlier. Ass end swung out and smacked the guard rail then spun in a perfect circle for about 40yrd's. That 50/50 helped or it would of been pong w/ me and the two guard rail's.(lesson learned)

Shame, looked like a nice car minus the chrome wheels.

EDIT: The wheels aren't terrible upon a second look, but still not really my taste... I unfortunately automatically frown upon chrome because it's not personally my taste. That's all I meant.

Same here man, the guy i bought it from had 'em on there. They were ACS Type 2's, awesome wheel's but heavy as..... chrome ACS Type 2's. Eventually sold 'em to some guy from PA for dirt cheep. I felt bad, there were more spoke's on the wheel's then he had teeth.

Did look clean when it had a fresh wash.
