    T-belt question

I ordered a kit from autohaus AZ. They sent be a gates belt instead of a conti. Should I run the gates or delay my completion and send it back? The gates is more expensive through them.

go with conti. it is original bmw... no experience with gates. but for a critical item such as a timing belt, i wouldn't go with anything other then original.

I'm not sure on this one. This will keep my car off the road for a week. Anyone have any experience with gates?

I've ran gates before and they are very comparable. I wouldn't hesitate to use it in my car. No problems at all. I'm running contitech now, but only because it is what the indie shop ordered for me... I don't see why you would delay for another week. Gates' are very respectable belts.

          What's the difference between (PT# T131 Gates T-Belt 127 tooth) vs the (PN # T106 Gates T-belt 128 tooth)? I don't understand the difference between them? The car is an 85 325e 5 speed.

I am currently running all gates belts on my 91 Nissan pathy, and personally think its a excellent choice.

One belt has 127 teeth, the other has 128 teeth.

Something the 128 does not have? Anyone?

iirc some early cars came with 128 toothed belt and later they where all converted to 127 teeth.. not 100% sure on this info though.

                        pat, gates is fine.

Ask them to send you a Conti.

They might do it for free, but you'll still have to wait.
