Checking out an 89 iX tomorrow...

What should I look out for? I can get it up on a hoist so I will look for any leaky seals and general maintenance issues, but is there anything specific I should look out for or ask about?

Thats one of its selling points, he claims the exterior is mint. I am going to be checking that bastard over with a fine tooth comb for flaws. I already have an e30 that needs bodywork, I don't need another haha.

My biggest worry is the awd system.

            iX buyers guide:

This covers it. Great guide for the basic iX specific problems and look for the usual e30 problems.

check the spare tire well, that is a key indicator for leaks and other rusted out spots.

CV BOOTS AND JOINTS, get the car up to speed then put it neutral so you get no engine noise and what not then listen for clicks or anything unusual. Just look over the boots make sure they are holding grease properly.

            Exhaust leaks due to rust...

Use bad points to your negotiating advantage.

Thanks for the good info regardless. I checked the car out, didn't quite live up to the ad but far from a heap. Going to look at it more thoroughly tomorrow hopefully.
