    Looked at a 318iS...

    I looked at a 91 318iS tonight…

Nice car – it was painted last year and they sort of painted everything, plastic trim, window trim emblems shaved front and back. :S. Originally it was diamond shwarts(sp) but the repaint is high gloss black. Is this typical or crappy paint jobs?

-Question: He said it was lowered with “suspension techniques” springs I’ve never heard of these are they good/do they even exist? Those springs are with tokito(sp) shocks :(

-I tried to drive the car from a stop starting in 5th gear…the car moved without even stuttering; I’m told this means the clutch is toast. Correct?

-The car was sitting at idle for about 15min then I drove it. When I got back I noticed a spot of oil on the ground from where it was sitting before:(

Don't buy it. It sounds like there's more going on there than you want to deal with, not to mention the crappy respray.

I was wondering the same, I've never heard of doing that.

i know suspension techniques makes springs, my friend has them, they are soft as fuckin hell, and combined with those shitty shocks, you've got crap, also the shitty ass respray, and your crazy plan about starting in 5th means nothing, so ignore whatever idiot told you that was the way to check the clutch, it's not, if anything it means the clutch is good. ignore that method though, it's stupid. the car seems like a good track car, but not more than that.

I think Jon Chan was running a set of ST springs on his old 325is. Don't remember what he said about em, though.

an m42 struggles like hell to start in second from a stop, i dont think a worn clutch would make this easier...

Seriously. Starting in 2nd is a bitch.
The BMW 318 is back. With a vengeance.

Yeah I just thought I'd post up to see what you people had to say.

I might lowball him (he needs money fast for a down payment on a house) I could store the car until spring and sell it for more i'm sure. I did so well on my eta that i'd like to do it again.

It pisses me off that it was diamond black and he painted it normal black.

                No sunroof too...weak.

I thought the car was on cut springs the ride was so soft...that's why I was asking if that company even made springs.

He told me the car has a check panel like the 325 but it never lights up I've never seen a black chunk of plastic light up either

                Thanks for posting.

I'm not looking for an M42...I want an 1989 325iS.

I'm looking to turn this car over; it's a really good deal. Since no one is looking to buy a sports car in the middle of winter.

                    I'll think about it.

I say if you have any doubts about the car, don't buy it.

If it has shady mods, and shady mods, the next buyer after you is going to notice too making it that much harder to sell.
From the sounds of it, it does sound like a typical shitty paint jobs. On top of that, it's leaking oil too? Who knows what else it's hiding under that paint job ;)

No sunroof is a rare thing, not a lot of people optioned out of a sunroof on those cars.

Does it have a "Check" button, or is it just a flat black plastic panel. If so, it's just the stock panel. The lights are hidden until they actually illuminate.

                            It's just the filler plastic.

I had a check panel in my 325.

When I was shocked to see it didn't have a sunroof he also said that no 318iS cars came with sunroofs. Yeah...that's right ;)
The no sunroof is strange. It has heated seats, PDL, PW, PM, and foglights but no sunroof.

Then it's just the factory 318 panel.

Guy sure doesn't seem to know shit about what he has.
