Euro clock owners - what was your reason for going from an OBC to clock?

I'm just curious as to why some folks go ape shit for the E30 "Euro Clock" that fits in the hole where the 6 or 13 button OBC is normally located. If you are one of the folks who has changed over from an OBC to a clock - why did you do the swap?

My current 6-button OBC has the common bleeding LCD screen, so it's useless (it's also the 2nd 6-button OBC, original went bad as well). I do have a 13-button OBC in excellent shape to replace the bad 6-button - but have been seeing many threads w/ folks selling the "Euro Clock" (and threads w/ pics of E30's having the Euro Clock installed).

I've thought about possibly going the same route - but here's my reasons:

    1) I hardly use the 6-button OBC as it is, even though it's hardly functional to begin with.... LOL

    2) I don't know that I would actually totally use the 13-button OBC (or all of it's features) once the bad 6-button OBC is replaced...

    3) I don't want to replace OBC's every so many months or years due the LCD screen leaking out which results in a "puddle" instead of anything functional...

    So...... anyone? :pimp:

I replaced my digital clock for analog. no OBC.

I usually put in cars that come with 6 button as 6 button pretty useless. Clock is simple and looks cool. Retro fitting a 13 into a 6 is possible but a pain and who really uses it to full extend anyway?

If I had a full 13-button I'd keep that. I'm swapping out my 6-button because I don't really need the temperature gauge. If I had an early 318i with just the clock I'd also swap for an analog. Like Levent said, they are simple and look cool.

The OBC is ugly. I also don't use the features of the obc.
The analog clock is simple, clean, and classy.

              +1

I may also add the word elegant because I'll probably never get a chance to use it again.

It is not too bad/complicated to install a 13 button.... I have never had the motivation though. In fact, never had the motivation to even fix any of them when they are busted. ........a lot of other things to worry about that are more important then a dumb clock.

when it would get hot, my 6 button would warp and do weird shit (scramble the screen) unless i pushed on it, then it would be fine. i would park the car for a bit. then when i came back out to it......scrambed screen again.

i just got tired of it and all i ever used it for was the clock anyways.

i bought a clock off of e30tech for $5 shipped.I went to the wreckers and found a digi clock and harness for $1. when i pulled the cluster to swap in the KM speedo, i painted the needles for the clock and speedo red and installed both.

mine does seem to run slow though. i have to bump it up once a month to keep it correct though. maybe it runs on "euro time"?

anyone else's run a little slower & loose time?

Mine too.... just recently though... Runs like jargain all over the screen, till i push on it, then normal.... Is the clock easy to swap? I don't use the OBC and it's crapping out anyway

Euroclock looks cooler.. I have one came from Spain but I don't have the harness to connect it.

Analog clock is also very easy to reset to correct time.
