    All 1991 318i and 318is had M42s in the US. There are no M40s in the US.

    Just to show you why I though I'd ask for some help from people I'd expect not to get all offensive.... yes wiki says m42. Several other sites i found both said m40 for some reason. So in my confusion why not ask people who should know? makes perfect sense to me...


    plus how should i have known they used the same engine if i didnt know what engine it had? is it really that had to just to answer a question and not call people stupid? =P

    I felt the same way but I justified it, by the title ... "Let me Google that for you". So he did not need to know the kind of motor, because someone else found knew it and found links for him...I am guess ;x
