at first because it was my first car.

now because they're cheap, fun to drive, and cool to look at.

Because they look awesome and are a blast to drive. I love the interiors and the way they are set up. they have all the luxury that I want or really need without the car being failure-prone or boated. And, of course, the camaraderie that comes with owning one :)

I didnt say that "not being fast=being slow". Which 6 cylinder BMW isnt slow? I've driven plenty of slow 6-cylinder BMW's ranging from 40-100 hp, so I think those qualify as plenty slow.

But it's just my opinion that stock M20's cars are slow. Especially etas and B20i's. Driving my car and then driving a stock 325i is like night and day; the car feels like a slug (noisy slug). Also, just because I call them slow doesnt mean they arent fun. I had as much fun with my eta when the motor was stock as I do now, if not more.

well your post i was responding to was about 325is. i maintain that 325is arent even remotely "slow". etas, sure.

We can agree to disagree on the topic. No harm done that way. I drive M20B25's all the time and the power is nothing more than adequate. It makes for a well balanced automobile out of the box. Of course, as I said before, that's just my opinion.

                        :D

Seriously though; I've never had real interest in driving anything other than E30's (and an S14 '02). I remember seeing my dad buy an '84 318i in the late '80's and throwing on Euro bumpers, ditching the M10 and putting in a brand new M20, and then the M50 in '92. Standing on the pit wall at Road Atlanta and RRR and seeing/hearing cammed E30's fly by, I never thought of driving anything else (Besides that S14 2002 ;) ). E30's, M20's, S14's, M50's are something I've been around constantly since I was a baby practically. Hell, our Christmas cards used to be my siblings and I all in BMW shirts sitting in the trunk of an Inka 'tii.

EDIT: Had a brief love affair with A1 GTi's when I was 15 but that didn't last too long.

Hardly anything felt fast when I daily drove the 3.0 24v car, so I know just what you mean. E36 M3's felt like dogs, mostly because of the weight of the car and the flywheel; they just arn't potent like the 24v E30. When you drive a 318is/325is everyday you don't necessarily think it's a slow car, but when you daily a 290+hp 24v, different story.

honestly i'm going from a mkv gti to this and i gotta say i enjoy this car a lot more. it's much more nimble, feels about as quick (though it certainly isn't), gets roughly the same gas mileage, but this time i got the right transmission and right wheel drive. (fingers crossed alkasquawlik doesn't read this and rub it in my face)
