I totally gouged the mating surface of the upper oil pan when removing it- gouged it good and proper..

Shit like this isn’t my style- but it’s done and obviously, I don’t want it to leak when I install a fresh paper/composite gasket. After research, I intend(ed) to replace the gasket as ‘dry’ possible. Perhaps a light coating of grease or maybe spay-adhesive if anything. The brush-on sealant/adhesive looked appealing and looks even more appealing now that I’ve got such a scuffed surface to address.
Currently, I’m inclined to take 400 grit paper with a flat sanding block to ‘flatten’ what’s there. I’m also thinking about applying the lightest smidgen of JB Weld to the surface, letting it cure, taking off the excess via sanding block, and then check the surface with a flat edge when done.
What would you do?
