NJGreenBudd's RX7 Turbo II Thread - You Asked For It....

So my Mazda seems to get more attention than my BMW on this forum. I had posted a few pics of my new E30 with the 7 in the background and have received numerous requests for more information and pictures of the RX7. So instead of posting in individual threads I decided to make this one so I can just link here when people ask.

It's a 1987 Mazda RX7 Turbo II, it is powered by a single turbo 1,308cc rotary engine. I pretty much rebuilt the entire car based on a brand new engine, stripped the car down bare and replaced whole drive train with new or low mileage components including upgraded clutch, pressure plate, transmission and limited slip differential. The engine management, fuel and timing is handled with an Rtek7 Stg 2.1 ECU upgrade, fuel is supplied by 4 x 720cc injectors and rewired 255lph Walbro pump. I'm currently running a BNR Stg 1 hybrid turbo -TO4B v-trim - and using GReddy Profec B Spec 2 for boost control at 12psi. Custom VMIC, FD manifolds, all emissions removed, 3" turboback exhaust, Stance GR+ coilovers, slotted/drilled rotors, 17 x7 and 17 x 9 wheels, etc..... Too much to list, it took over 3 years to build and isn't even really finsihed but it's at a comfortable point for me.

    Anyways here are some pics-

And that is what the rotary is all about.

Only rotary I've ever driven was a friend's $500 FC. Man was that thing a pile, but it sung so smoothly all the way up to 7 grand.

Great car, glad you nixed the hood.

2nd Generation Specific (1986-1992) - '88 Rebuild - up and running before the end of summer - Hello all. I've owned my 7 for about three years now, and have worked on it here and there, mostly aesthetic stuff. Now, I'm about to start my biggest project yet. The rebuild. It overheated and fried the water seals, so I'm...

rx7s are just badass. I was looking into getting a turbo II last year but had to take care of some things with the M3...eh maybe in the near future.

                      Car looks good man!

I miss my FC. Thought a few times about getting rid of the e30 in favor of a TII. Never can do it though.

I appreciate the positive remarks. It takes countless hours and effort to build any nice car, especially one from 1987. lol
