    A new project, would love your input

    Hi everyone,

    I just bought an 86 325e and I would love some help deciding what to do next.

    It needs a new timing belt, rear springs, clutch return spring, Inner and outer tie rods, rear transmission seal is leaking, tranny bushing mounts need to be replaced, shifting linkage is loosey goosey and clunking, steering rack is leaking, brakes are squealling loud. The engine is strong but isn't running as well as it could. the car has around 160,000 miles on it.

    With all that, I have got my tools and some time, my question is what I should replace or upgrade with as I do the repairs. Who is good to buy parts from and what are good modifications to make to a 325e to make it more fun to drive.

      This is great advice.

      If you need more detail than that though, I suggest you fix the timing belt, rear springs, clutch return spring, inner and outer tie rods, rear transmission seal, tranny bushing mounts, shifter linkage, steering rack and brakes.

            The point is, if you know you have issues, particularly fairly major ones, you need to do them first before doing upgrades. I took the other route and I'm still paying for it in continuous mystery issues and necessary repairs that keep me from dying.
