Help - locking gas cap door?

Stupid question of the year award - After driving my '92 cabrio for over a year, I go to put gas in it and the gas cap door is locked. I didn't even know there was a lock on it. How do you unlock it? I don't have an owner's manual.

    Thanks!

Our e30s have little locks on the gas cap doors that lock when the regular door and trunks are locked, try unlocking your doors.

If that does not work, you can pull back the inner trunk lining and wiggle your finger around to push the latch open.

Ive had this problem on my new 90 cabrio, reason for bringing back this old thread through seach. Ive tried unlocking the doors and trunklid both, and get nothing. A friend of mine who has a coupe said theres a lever of sort in his trunk. When I removed all the trunk interior the only thing I see on the passenger side is what looks to be a fuse and a plug

that will be the actuator for the central locking. if its anything like mine, look under neath it an you will see a "square S" shaped piece of metal (hopefully this makes sence). slide that back. you should need no effort to do so. if you do, unbolt the actuator, and replace with a working one when you get the chance to
