    update on accident.

the insurance finally called me about my claim when i got rear ended last month. there offer was 1440$. i told them that thats not going to cut it, i have recipts all the way from 86, including work done while still under warrenty. im sure someone will say "dude its an pre 88 eta your not going to get much more" but i have done alot to the car. its just how i wanted it and was in exellent condition. they seem to be undersatnding and are going to give me a call this week after i give them the book of recipts i have with another offer. what do you guys think a resonable amount would be? im not trying to make a buck im trying to get what the car was worth to me.
the only good news is that the cost for me to buy my car back from them is cheap i mean really cheap like $23.00

Keep fighting dude! I'm still fighting with Metlife about when my car got hit. They offered me 1500 for my '91 325i and to buy it back was 200 bucks, so you got lucky there.

Don't let them get away with that shit. Just an fyi though they told me they'd only take receipts less than a year old, which is compete bs anyway, but just keep that in mind.

For me it ended up that way.

                              I got:
                              1. All advertisements for similar models in similar shapes.
                              2. Appraisals of completed work. I sent two from dealership and an independent shop.
                              3. Independent appraiser came out (insurance company by law is obligated to pay for one)
                              4. I annoy the shit out of my adjuster and then the rest of their claim branch.

Eventually I said 10k and they keep the car or 8k and I keep it. It took them 3 days to call me back and offer 8k and take the car. I asked for a detailed appraisal of what they were paying me 8k for. Everything that was "maintenance" or they didn't pay for, I took off.

I was quite proud of myself and bought another eS and a DSLR to celebrate :)
