Passenger side headlight out. Replaced but still not working. Any suggestions ????

87 325iS with butt load of miles and not a lot of rust but some of the screws and bolts behind the grill seem oxidized.

I replaced the sealed beam bulb with OEM from the stealer. Still not working. Tested the socket, didnt get a light on the probe tester with lights on.

Any suggestions as to how to start tracking down this short, or could it be a fuse? the other headlight, in fact all other lights work fine. Its just the passenger headlight.

I might have to take to have it worked on, the sticker is out on it next month.

Any input will be considered helpful.

did you trace back the wires to check for breaks or loose connections?

Checked the wires back to the end of the harness. Found a crimp in the white/blue wire, but didnt appear to be broken.

Yellow/blue should be the feed wire for the right side low beam. White/blue for the high.

Ok.. now I notice when I turn on the high beams, both low beams come on!! So the socket gets current, but not when the high beam switch is off.

Also the fogs wont come on with the high beam on but this could be normal I guess, right?

So ... All lights come on when high beams are on, but passenger low beam does not come on when just the low beam is on, i.e. the high beam switch isnt on.

                  Suggestions...???

Make sure there isn't any build-up on the terminals. That's usually what it is on the sealed beams. Also, high beams and fogs are not wired to work at the same time.

Are you sure you are using the right type of bulb?
Sounds to me like the replacement bulb may be wrong.

I got the 5 3/4" bulb from the dealer who ordered it from where ever they order OEM parts. The light comes on, but only when the high beams are on. Then all four lights are on.

Sort of rules out the socket, or being the wrong bulb... I would think.
