    Windshield Replacement

I'm new to the forum and also new to e30's. What are are you guys using when replacing your windshields, used oem, new oem, or new non oem? Can anyone recommend a good windshield replacement company in the Bay Area (CA). I did a seach first and did not find anything.

For what it's worth, replacing a windshield is one of the best under-rated mods one can do, in my opinion. Especially on a 20+ yo car.

Personally, I went with PPG glass. Price installed was $150.00. Call around for your best price. Most of the glass replacement shops offer mobile service & non-OEM glass. Obviously OEM is best, but also very pricey. Domestic glass is usually very good optical quality as well as thickness.

Foreign glass can be good, but for the small $$ difference, I went with PPG.

Cheaper windshields may not have a perfect fit (which can cause leaks) and the layers of glass and plastic can delaminate. PPG is generally pretty good.

Thank you guys for the response. I will look into the PPG glass. I want a glass that reduces solar heat gain.

I just had my 21 year old windshield pitted and cracked from age and use (abuse) replaced with OEM one, and it really made a big difference since the reflection from finely pitted windshield is now gone.

            Here's the one I got:
