I used to have this 88 delphin super eta as a parts car, and instead of parting the whole thing, i donated it to our local Pattenburg 25 fire dept as a training car a few months back. They called my dad and I the other day and asked if WE wanted to use the tools and learn how to pop doors, and take the roof off for extraction! Needless to say, I was not hesitant whatsoever to put all the gear on and play with ridiculously strong tools.
the door spreader and the cutter are massively powerful hydraulic tools which made mincemeat out of our beloved bmw! they were also very heavy, the door spreader was over 50lbs, and to be able to maneuver it in full gear is not easy!
first i center-punched all four door windows and the rear, then took the cutter and cut straight through all six pillars. then we shut all the doors and i had to use the spreader and a pry bar to get in there and pop the locks open.
i have always respected firemen (especially volunteers) but after today truly get a sense of the things they go through. any of you on here that are firefighters, i give my props to you! and thank you for your hard work and dedication!
