Like everybody has said, it's OEM and it's the Blackline steering wheel. Rarest and most expensive of all the OEM e30 steering wheels. The Blackline steering wheel also came OEM in wood. The only wood part was the ring around the wheel I guess you would call it.

Its called the 'woodline' I want to buy one for my bronzit so I have both.

oh yeah, Also this isn't a true BMW wheel, Its a Nardi. BMW asked them to make it and slapped a part number on it. Pretty cool.

Well Im 6'2 and I sit in track position all the time. so im closer to the wheel and sitting pretty straight up.

So for me, Yes it blocks the top of the gauge.
