    Rear Wheel bearing Question

Alright guys I purchased some new rear wheel bearings and I am going to have them pressed in tomorrow. I opened up the box for the new bearings and I noticed that there is a machined groove, or taper on it. Does this taper go towards the wheel, or towards the axle, or doesn't it matter?

I would imagine it would matter since the ones that were in the car had them as well. Thank you in advance!

The taper is there to assist pressing in the bearing, it goes outboard.
