Most expensive 325E in the world

Sorry if this is a repeat post - I did search.

I saw this car at the Imperial Palace Car Collection yesterday, $22.5K for an Eta:

I wanted to sneak in after hours and swap out my diving boards for those ones. To say that the guy was meticulous about maintenance would be an understatement. I told my friend who works there that the car might be a smidge over-priced, but he didn't think so.

If you're ever in Las Vegas, I highly recommend going to the collection. They have a lot of cars with - shall we say - nice styling. I go 3 or 4 times a year, best free feature in LV. You can print out a free admission pass here:

22k for an eta? I would rather spend that on an m3.

spend the money where you want, but youll never get to that point in life.

22k for a car that has obviously been babied and EXTREMELY well taken care of.

i dont see the problem here?

i bet he will settle around 15kish if someone puts up cash. i mean, eventually that WILL be a sought after car to a enthusiast collector.

if I had everything, I would spend money on it and bubble it for another 20 years.

for 22k you could rebuild your whole car. why spend the money on that just cause it has been babied? if you have the moeny for that car buy an m3 or at least a late model i, rebuild it from the ground up and toss around your extra money on boost/ performance. m3 is ftw eta is lose. take your pick, i pick a car that is worth it, stock eta is not.

If I just had money to blow, I would buy that car and build it into a track car with a Mazda rotary swap, just to piss everyone off.

A car is only original once and you pay through the nose for something like that.

not for me. performance beats originalty in so many ways. this is a 20 year old bmw, not a rare car. if it was something worth it then yes, but for an e30 no. an eta sold for what? about that much brand new? its not a real collector's iteam to be honest.

I don't blame the seller for giving it a shot. All it takes is one middle aged guy who would either like to relive his youth, or more likely, snag something that appealed to him immensely during his youth but he couldn't afford at the time.

If it was, say, an '87 325iS, I figure there's a damned good chance that car would've been gone as soon as it made the first round of the internet.

                        22k is stupid.

Actually, it was. Original owner, garaged, dealer maintenance, monthly leather goop since new, not driven in the rain. The car looked beyond clean, much more so than a lot of other "street" cars in the collection, including a '73 911 they wanted $160K for with a cracked tail light.

So yes, the car was very nice, but you can (I think?) still get a fairly nice M3 for that kind of dough.

I don't care if it rolled off the assembly line yesterday. Its still a $22k eta.

                              Overpriced, maybe. Stunning, yes.
Sure it isn't a rare car, but then again my dad can tell you stories till the cows come home about all the shoe-box Chevrolets that he destroyed in his youth, since they were cheap and 'not that special'. If you wheeled one of them into an auction in the state that this car is in, it would easily fetch six figures. Give the e30 another decade or two and this eta will be in the same ball-park. And that's what the type who would buy it is going for...
