    rebuild?

just wondering when you should consider rebuilding an m20? runs fine but is at 300,00km. what would it cost for a rebuild, part wise? just a stock rebuild, nothing fancy.

For a full top and bottom end you're looking at $4k+ to do it right. The easiest thing would be to just do the head which should be about $600-800 in machine shop labor plus removal and installation which could be done yourself if you have previous experience in such things.

If you build it yourself, a full rebuild including machine work you'll be looking at between 2-4k. I priced my 2.7i build at about 2.5k thanks to a good machine shop that has a great price, this includes everything from new gaskets to bearings, new valves rods and cams etc. Although I'm going to probably be reusing stuff like the compressor alternator etc so if you go completely new then 4k sounds about right.
