    Exhaust question

I'll start with being very clear: I'M NEW....so bear with me:)

I've got a 1991 2d 325i. I'm building it up to run in the Pro3 class in the near future, hopefully next season, fingers crossed.

My question is regarding the exhaust system. My plan is to use Stahl headers into a collector and a custom straight section to the muffler. However, and here's where the "I'm New" bit comes in, I simply like the look of the rice burner mufflers, the round cylinders with one big tip. The ones you see hanging out the back of Subaru's and the like.

Can (or should?) I run one of those (like HKS, Apex, Greddy etc.) type mufflers? Its not like it'll sound like a fart can honda. I guess my question is, why do all the german cars run borla, remus, stebro...why not the asian stuff?

    Anyone have experience with this?

    thanks!

I'm not sure what the class rules allow. Why don't I run a fart can? Because to me as soon as I see someone with one of those I automatically assume they are some ricer wanna be gangster fgt. I hate everything about that whole image. If you like it go for it (check the rules though).

No one runs the "fart cans" because they sound like a fart can. Plain and simple. On an inline 6 engine it will be extremely loud - nothing like a 4 banger civic. An E30 calls for a big body exhaust with a good amount of volume to dampen the sound.

Edit: And I run the Asian stuff, the stuff made in Asia. Stainless and other metal material is WAY cheaper over there, and it can be assembled for less. So, in reality, I run the Asian stuff; mine just isn't a buzz sounding fart can that smells like rotten eggs.
