So I stumbled across a 1986 300D on Craigslist the other day, which I thought was a misprint because the W124 diesels first arrived in 1987. Turns out, the car was grey market - which is exceedingly rare for a diesel in this body style - and was speced like the taxi cab it is. Manual windows, manual seats, no cruise control, and MB-Tex although it does have a (working!) power sunroof and auto climate control console. This is the NON-turbo straight six diesel motor.
After looking through a stack of maintenance records (2nd owner since 1991!) and taking a test drive, I drove it home. Color combo is just the way your grandfather would have ordered it: baby blue on dark blue. Odometer reads 238K miles.
Pictures coming soon... I can't believe how geeked I am over what is essentially a 22 year old taxi, but this car has bags of character.
So let's see your old diesel Benz - dirty, rusty, smoke beltching cars are welcome too.
