    Ack!

Alright, i'm doing my searching now but hopefully you guys can chime in....

Car started making a BAD grinding screeching noise. Popped the bonnet and saw the that radiator fan, was intermittently spinning and moving at pace with the screeching noise.

Repair radiator fan and clutch? or go electric? Thoughts? The car's here in miami and we're getting 90-95 degree temps....

      ^he means fan clutch.

Grab a 32mm wrench and remove the damn fan...but remember it is left handed thread!

timing belt was done about a year ago-- previous owner did water pump on the last timing belt and mechanic confirmed. rotor/cap and gasket were done along w/ timing belt--prolly spring for a valve adjustment now.

excuse my naiveté-- is the water pump directly attached to the radiator fan? COULD that be making a noise? im gonna need to drive the car to the mechanic but wanna do so only if its safe.

sry, had to repost- would a water pump make noise if it going out? more importantly, would it be making this noise?

Yes, a water pump will make a screeching noise when going out. The bearings/bushing will get sloppy and start to squeal. Grab the fan and try to move it side to side. If there is any play, then you know it's the water pump.
