So true about the message board and the internet. I know one person in tampa with an m3, other than his I dont think Ive seen one on the road this year. Ive seen a couple beat up ones owned by basically clueless people. There are several nice ones in the whole state of Florida though. I happen to live in this area, Im guessing most people in anytown, USA never see an e30 m3 in person.

I see e30 m3s every month on the freeway and shit, you guys are deprived of awesomeness. Seen 4 oldie M6s and a handful of M5s this year too.

not really, it just makes it that much more special to own one outside of california.
same goes for 02's. people flag you down on the street to check it out

how many different m3s do you see and how do you know? i see one almost every day but that doesnt mean theyre popular. even in sunny california, somehow i doubt youve seen several e24 m6s and e28 m5s just driving around town recently. perhaps you did not get a close enough look or are not familiar enough with the cars. no disrespect its just hard to imagine especially when ive seen 100s of e24s/e28s badged m6/m5.

                all in hiding

I know 3 dozen E30 M3 owners in the Seattle/Portland area, most are not using them as daily drivers anymore. They are tucked away in garages and come out on sunny days. The owners that are still daily driving their E30 m3s are up around 200k miles and the maintenance costs are killing them.

They are out there, just not on the road much.

wow! 3 DOZEN in your area. that puts a different perspective on things. id venture to say theres not even 5 in this county, but thats just guesstimation and me thinking i would have met them by now through cca or autox (not necessarily driving the m3) or just seeing them. maybe oregon just has a huge e30 population haha

I know of 4 local area Henna owners, that number doesn't sound right with 250 being built. In 1988 BMW sold the most E30 M3 out of the 5 years the car was available. I include 87 as the car was available for deliveries in Sept 87 as an 88 model car.

Henna was discontinued mid 88 yes it did not sell as well as Zinno but it was not a slouch.

Maintenance cost are not a fortune and don't kill you if you do your own work. I have two 200K plus mileage cars.

I don't DD them but in summer, yeah they get used.

Iono if they are different but every now and then I catch this silver M3, and a black M3 cruising the island. I remember exactly where I see the M6s, gotta check the front every time to see if it's real or just a hoax. I just love the island of Alameda, seems like everyone has a BMW fetish. There's an imported 745 somewhere here too, sounds great. I understand why you were skeptical, every other car out there is sporting an M badge nowadays.
