    ? about my computer speakers.

so i got the new comp setup, and even when i turn the volume up on the master control, its not very loud. the speakers themselves dont have their own volume control. there some infinitys that i got about a yr or two ago. I have no clue what could be making my sound so quiet. Have I overlooked some other hidden control or something?
    TIA

Are you POSITIVE they don't have their own volume control?

Are you POSITIVE they're plugged into the right port on the back of your computer?

        Are they even internally amplified?

im not sure, all i know is that there is no physical knob or dial that is attached to the speakers that I can control

Is there a port for a power supply?

It seems highly unlikely that Infinity of all companies sells unamplified speakers.

Are they surround sound or stereo? If they're stereo, have you made sure your sound control panel settings are configured for stereo, and not surround? And have you plugged them into the port for the main speakers and not the one for rear speakers or whatever?

Go to your volume control within Windows and put the Wave volume level up to the top, that should raise the volume for ya.

do you know what type of integrated audio? i'd tell you make sure they are plugged in all the way into the port, but you said you checked so i guess throw that out. you should change your output to direct sound, anyway.

Sounds like you are using un-amplified speakers. I don't know of any internally amplified Infinity speakers. They are home audio speakers meant to be driven by an amplifier/reciever. Your sound card is not an amplifier, just a low-level output that is meant to be amplified by computer speakers with an internal amp, or home audio speakers with an external amp/reciever.

do you even have a sound card? integrated audio usually means that the speakers will plug in directly to the motherboard. or have you installed a sound card and not disabled the integrated audio in bios? are you sure the speakers are plugged into the right port? if you are using the integrated audio on the motherboard line-out will usually be bright green. make sure your wave volume under windows volume control is not too low or muted, and deffinately check for a port for a power supply, or a compartment for batteries. also it may be worth while to test your computers line-out with a set of speakers that you know will work just to confirm that the problem is the computer.
