    What's your favorite non-30 wagon?

I'm thinking of selling my S4 sedan and buying a wagon of some kind to use as a DD, to get rid of some insurance, car payment, & maintenance expenses, and also to accommodate my ever growing GSP puppy.

My first pick at this moment would be a scooby wagon of some kind. Manual transmission is mandatory, AWD is strongly preferred. We get lots of snow here. seriously, LOTS. my buddy has a 5 speed for sale for 2k, i could probably get it for $1600 if i play my cards right. Cheap, or relatively so, with a decent aftermarket is also pretty key. I'm not aware of too many wagons on that market that meet these criteria. A B5 S4 or A4 wagon would be nice, but i'm trying to get my finances in order to buy a house in the next year or so, so that is kind of more than i care to spend on insurance and maintenance. I'm not opposed to buying a car with some issues and fixing it, i've done it before. What do you guys like as far as wagons go? Pics are always a bonus!

aww fuck wrong forum, someone wanna move this to general discussion?

                  Outback 2.5XT manual

They are quick and with a few mods (exhaust/tune) they can be seriously fast. Very useful as well.

it's a B5 sedan, if it was a wagon i'd probably just keep it.

Ah, my bad (RIF). I'm looking for a B6 S4 Avant 6-speed for my mom to replace her 205k+ mile E34 540i M-Sport DD. I've been searching high and low for one of those things, I like the fact that they offer a manual in it and that it's normally-aspirated. They look pretty sick too, even in stock form. Depending on what you're willing to spend, you'd probably be able to get $12-15k for your B5 (condition-dependant) and find a similar B6 S4 Avant for $18-20k. It seems like a bargain IMO.

If you're looking for something sub-$10k, I think the E34 525iT (all US-bound E34 525iT's had the preferred 24V M50 motor) with a 5-speed swap would be a great little car that probably wouldn't run you over $6-7k with the cost of the swap. Check around, they have a few interior quirks (primarily delamination) but are otherwise solid cars, I'd look for one with out the dual sunroof though. I am unsure of its performance in snow, but I'm sure it isn't too bad. Check the pictures below to see if it suits your fancy.

All of those are pretty well modified, and the last one was recently up for sale (it made it's way to BaT.com.)

                          Best of luck.
