    OC/LA E30 Swap.

    Hi everyone,

Im a member of many Bmw forums and people told me this would be the place to get my questions answered. I own a e36 and a e90 but im really itching for e30 next (1-3 years). I dont know a thing about DIY, while i am a quick learner i just dont have the supplies and and time (sunday my only off day usually)

So my question to you all is, how much is this going to cost me?

    List of things i need

    Car

Engine (i want it to be a e36 m3 engine or whatever os very popular to swap)

Painting the Car (avg going rate)

Labor (the only way i would try to do anything like this on my own would be with help of others)

If you know any shops in the LA/OC area that you or others have worked with to do this swap i'd love to know more info.

There have been a ton of engine-swapped cars for sale, just check the classifieds. It's the more economical route, but there can be some drawbacks to buying a car so heavily modified without knowing its full history.

If you want to build yourself a swapped car with the help of a mechanic, and the HB in your sig stands for Huntington Beach, then you are a lucky SOB since e30 Motor Werks is right in your own back yard. Check this thread for some info. on the swaps and other projects he currently has going on.

Last option is to just DIY, tons of swap info. on this forum, do a search, plus most of the folks here will be happy to help you out unless you get on their nerves, then then will flamebroil you for everyone's pleasure and amusement

m5x/s5x swapped cars are anywhere between 5-8k on average.

normal cars are about 2-3k average

Paint really depends on quality and who you know, I would budget $2500 for a quality exterior and jambs. Whole car stripped down more like 5k.

          2k for suspension upgrades

Labor would have to be quoted by the shop.

Sorry everyone i have another question to ask. I did;nt want to start a new thread.

Just got my front rotors and pads replaced on my e36 a week ago and i heard a slight sqeek when i was braking today and then it went away. Is this normal? Or what is the cause?

                              Thanks
