    Should I?

Ok so my friend has a zinno 89 325i 4dr auto. The trans is bad, so he is thinking about selling it to a shop for cheap to be parted. He also offered it to me for $550.

The car has around 200k, all of the regular maintenance items have been replaced. I am trying to decide if it's worth buying it for that price and putting a tranny in it (auto or 5 speed swap?), or buying it for parts (random small stuff, nothing major) for my 87 325is.

Overall it's a very solid car. Everything is there and works except the A/C, which needs a compressor (and I have one). The paint is a little rough, just faded. No rust or rotten panels anywhere.

    What do you guys think?

that's a no brainer, for $550 buy it, fix it resell it, and hell if you haven't done a pb swap yet, I'd just fix up the car for yourself. that's a great buy!

          Buy it

          Fix it

          Keep it

or part it out. Either way for that price a RUNNING parts car is worth it.

Thanks for the input guys. As tempting as it is to steal the bumpers for mine, the car is just too good for me to justify parting. I think I will go ahead with it and either swap a used auto into it or do a 5 speed swap. Either way I'll have another solid running e30 so I can work on one and drive the other one.

great idea. Having an e30 that constantly runs and one that you can work on relieves a lot of frustration.
