You guys had better have had some hands on experience with modified E21s to be making such harsh accusations!

My E21s suspension has been modified by somebody who knew what they were doing. It handles amazingly and feels really well balanced. It's 1000x better than my E30.
I know you guys will never believe me. Anyone who wants to come find out for themselves is more than welcome to.

As to another question asked, my 323 weighs in at just under 2450.

Well, to answer your question. Yes, I have driven MANY E21s in all forms of prepared. Stock, street modified, race.


This is the only E21 that I have ever seen actually handle well. oh wait! There isn't ANY of the front E21 DESIGN even left! Look closely at the pictures, there is a control arm off the subframe, support arm coming from the front. The sway bar is also activated like a normal sway bar and does not play two roles in the suspension. Sway bar cannot be seen in this picture as it runs through the engine bay.

The red peice in between the tailights is pretty weak. That car is sick as hell though.

TJ said the same thing. That came stock on E21's.

Never got one on any of my cars, ive only seen them in aftermarket catalogs. All mine have had grids through them.

Only the later motronic versions, people stuck with jetronic still have distributors (unless you are talking about this specific car)

Edit: Yeap, checked again, that is definately aftermarket, the stock M20 still has the cap located on the front of the cam, it just doesnt have a mechanical distributor like the earlier cars.

Id rather the E21 cabin, there is actually more room sitting in drivers seat of the E21 compared to the E30

That E21 is better than a good majority of our E30's in probably most aspects of the "better". One aspect, it is not however: better per dollar

Never been a fan of the E21, and as mentioned before, the front suspension design is crap. I think it's one of the least sought after BMW's....atleast 3-series. That is a pretty wild M20 in the first one though, and the car is just over 2000 pounds. The S14 swap on the white car looks nicely done too.
