I am definately happy with the club. I didnt do much outside of track events because it was an older crowd that looked down upon those of use who dont have new models but now its a younger group that is more into track events and modifications.

The dicount was still useful for that stuff that you couldnt get online, no matter now that I pay cost plus 10.

The Roundel is one of the best magazines out. The writing styles, the articles, the wittiness of the editor = the best magazine.
I also enjoy the fact that they are not blindly lustful of BMW's. They accept that some parts of BMW suck, and then make fun of it.

Roundel absolutely blows. So no, its not worth it. There are plenty of other track organizations that offer better (read less crowded) track schools.

yeah, but most of the maintenance parts you can get for less online. Only dealer exclusive item I have is the e30 sunshade. I was able to some contacts to local parts suppliers after joining the cca.

Wow, that's a pain. I have to *call* to order from an online parts house that doesn't even provide the lowest prices?

As for the dealer discount, that part of the CCA membership is worth it. Yes, you can parts online cheaper, but that doesn't help you if you break something, and need it that day.

Yeah, I bought about 50 of the most current issues of Roundel from someone on EBay once for $20. I went thru them and only kept 4 issues of interest. the rest went to the landfill......

Personally, I like the Roundel. I enjoy reading about other facets of BMW other than just the E30. My dealership has a great parts department, and with the CCA discount is seldom higher than online for most things. Can't get brake rotors online with a 12 month warpage warranty for $40 each! And yes, for any car that's not tracked, the stock rotors are more than adequate. Restoring an e30? Better have a friend at the dealer! There are a lot of small parts that no one online will touch.

I can understand if all you want is car porn, you know, pics of cars that you like and stuff, the Roundel will not be to your liking. It's written by people who've been driving and wrenching on BMWs longer than most of the guys on this board have been alive!!! I find a lot of depth there. A lot of humor, too.

So that's my $.02...

I say it is worth it for the Roundel. Also, go to a meeting or event and see if you enjoy talking to the other members. The free food and door prizes that we give should be worth the $40. We are giving a M Driving school at our year end party this year as one of the raffle prizes. Also, I got $500 cash from them after buying my e46 through the rebate program.
