      Or some people pretend that they can hear the difference to look uber cool.

      I know lots of people who can't hear the difference between mp3s and CD tracks and call themselves audiophiles.

        If there are no forign sounds present (scratches,blips,clips,etc) It is all gravy.
        I can listen to a 96kbps mp3 and enjoy the song.

            It's better then what I had to listen to when I rode in my friends '88 subuaru wagon for a few weeks. :)

            Good sound is a luxury. I love it as much as the next guy.

              I think tonight I'm gonna delete all my mp3's just because there is somthing better.

                Because thats not the main reason. The main reason is that the sound is much cleaner.
                If you have a decent set of speakers, you should be able to hear the difference.

                  Wow. I'm not picky about having something like a 128 kbps mp3 file but 96 sounds like shit to me. You lose so much clarity. And yes, .ogg has been around for a long time. You are just behind. I am k3w1.

                      I just downloaded my first one today after reading an interesting article on them. Winamp will play .ogg's. Go try one.
