i was selling these cars when that '06 redesign came out... FXT 2.5 is basically most of the way to an STI motor, and it has the shortest gearing you can get in a turbo subie. handling isn't quite as sharp as the impreza, but you'd expect that. overall, if you need more space than you'd get in, say, an impreza wagon/hatch and still want to go fast, it's kinda the best thing out there.past:

1986 325e (turbo dorito)
1991 318ic (5-lug ITB)

current:
1995 M3 (suspension, 17x9/255-40, borla)Comment

I'd rock the hell out of it. Plenty of aftermarket support for that engine, drivetrain and even suspension. Plus it is a cool looking wagon. Negatives include being labeled as a lesbian.Comment

The ones in your post are STi versions, which are limited editions in Japan (get a different 6-speed gearbox that has unique gearing, STi seats, etc). I love the look of white 03-04 FXT Luxury Packs and would have one over the STi model 9 days out of 10. You can upgrade the car pretty easily to have better shit than what the STi comes with, so I'd save my money and get a regular one and upgrade it.
That said, one of the reasons these things are so popular over here is because Audis, Mercs and BMWs are hideously expensive. +$100k for a 335i, +$70k for a 135i, etc.Pork Hunt Motorsport
