For years and years, I've been doing things the hardway. Receive paypal payment, copy senders address in word, create self made label, print, post on box, bring to USPS store, pay, ship.
Everyone I know in the E-business has been telling me, "ELuk...get with the times!" They have advised me to use the paypal feature to create my own labels...then I just drop off the package.
Well, my stubborn hard ass finally caved in and....I love it. It is so damn easy.I wish I started this 2 years ago!
Anyway, I've noticed that it lets you enter package weight which dictates shipping cost. I know it usually costs $8.55 to go to the east coast for one of my heatshields, but I don't know how much the boxes weigh. Therefore I just plugged in different weight numbers until I got $8.55 as the cost.
This got me thinking though...I don't think the post office takes the time to double check these things. What's stopping me from under weighing the package and saving money on shipping cost? I know one time I shipped a transmission that was well over the limit but claimed it was compliant and had the post guy pick it up...it never came back to bite me in the ass.
I want to make it clear that I am not looking to rip off the postal store as I am well aware the mail fraud is a federal offense. I'm just wondering what will happen if I enter the wrong weight for my package? Retun to sender?
