    Help with tranny advice

So I just installed the 3.73 lsd I bought from here and my car still didnt run. I pulled the drain plug on the tranny and it had a full gear tooth and metal shavings on it!!!! Whats the extent of the damage? Is the tranny reparable or should I go ahead and replace or upgrade it? If so what tranny should I get? Thanks guys any help is appreciated!!

      Get a used working transmission.

Every day I wake up we drink a lot of coffee and watch the CNN
Every day I wake up to a bowl of clover honey and let the locusts fly in.
      Lobsterbacks attack the town again
Wrap all my things in aluminum
Beams of darkness streak across the sky
Pink rays from the ancient satellite
Every time I look out my window same three dogs looking back at me.
Every time I open my windows cranes fly in to terrorize me.

What are you trying to do with the car? If you want a daily driver, just get another used one no point in upgrading unless you have money to spend.

I use the car as dd but if I can fork out a little more to make it faster I'm always down for that:)

The transmission is not going to make you faster, and the stock one can handle a good amount of power mods so spend you money elsewhere. Get a used one put some Redline MTL in it and get a short shifter plus something like the UUC or ZHP knob and you should be happy.

if your car is a six cyl. keep the 260-- or else you will need the driveshaft/shifter carrier too.
if you have a 4 cyl. go with the 240-- keep it simple.

These transmissions are unbelievably simple and reliable. No one rebuilds due to the $50 perfectly good used ones available at the pick and pull. Metric Mechanic makes a built up 260, but only a few on here could even appreciate it's ruggedness.
