Yeah I was under my car one time and saw a crack forming on the perch. Needless to say I swapped them out quickly, lol.

wasn't your car on some magazine cover recently? How do you go from cover-worthy to rusty POS in wekks time?

Haha I wish, but nope... it's still the rusty pos it always was. ;)

I had a rusty spring perch go on my e28 ('85 535i) a few years ago. The car was relatively rust free, but my daily driver (under car oiled it regularly for winter use)

It broke just as I was pulling into my parents driveway, so very low speed, no harm done - but it did scare the crap out of me when it let go. Upon further inspection to the other side, I noticed that a lot of crud accumulates in the lower perch - especially after a few winters of driving.

I make a point now of whenever I have a wheel off I clean the crap out of the lower perch to help slow down possible rusting.
