Thats a VERY nice looking turbo you got there. Do you know what the A/R values are on the turbine and compressor? Looks sick, I bet it should put out some nice numbers. This might be some competition for me :D What kind of boost are you going to be running? Any internal mods?

      Peace out,

        Hey Matt,
We had the turbo built to our spec. Email me directly if you would like to know the specs. I believe they are similar to yours. I intend to run 10psi non intercooled and 15psi intercooled (water/air). No internal mods planned. If the m20 is as stout as the m30 then none are needed. My parter has run 18-20psi on his stock m30 for 30k miles with no issues. I am going to check to be sure it has the updated head bolts. Was there a production date where the m20 went to the tork head bolt?
        Thanks,
        Todd

If anything just get the head studs, they are stronger and work better.

You can just look through your oil filler opening to see if you have the hex head bolts. They were on E30s from '84 to '89, and it is definitely worth getting them replaced with the torx head.

Sweet. Just checked and have torx head bolts.

Well, that turbo is a little to large for the eta. I'll probably go with a straight T3 for the eta. Figure about 8/9rwhp per pound of boost non intercooled and 10/11rwhp intercooled. I am shooting for 10psi non intercooled and 15psi intercooled.
                  Thanks,

wow, i learn something new everyday, i didn't know we could run turbos on our cars w/o internal mods and w/o intercoolers. And your saying that a regular m20 could get 10psi w/o a intercooler, so its' like almost 80hp. So what is necessary for a turbo setup? I know u need the turbo, the waste manifold(that metal things that bolts to where the headers are suppose to be) and thats it right? And is it a waste to run turbo on autos?

I currently run 15psi non intercooled on my m30. It has 8:1 compression. Mathmatically I should be able to run 12psi on a 8.8:1 motor but I say 10psi to be conservative. We have made no internal mods to the m30 and hope that the m20 motor is as robust. We have no reason to suspect otherwise.

A properly sized turbo and an automatic are a great combination.

                      Thanks,
                      Todd

I'm in for one when you get the R&D done on the kit. Seems a bit pricey to me for the intercooled kit though. IS the boost adjustable from the cockpit and does it come with a boost ignition retard??
You could easily run 20psi of boost on a stock M20 engine. Conquests/Starions are known to run 30 psi boost on stock 8.5:1 pistons, and they have a shitty induction (read: fuel management system) on them.

The MSD is an option and boost is not cockpit adj. I have priced the kit fairly and it is a very good value compared to the competiion.
                          Thanks for your interest,

TCD do you think that your shop will end up doing kits for the M50 or S52?
That would be something I'd be VERY interested in taking a look at.
