Ah, I've push-started several. I reserve kick-starting for dirtbikes and old street bikes.

How are you checking for spark? Are you just looking with one cable? Or at the coil? Maybe only one or two cylinders are not getting a spark.

Sounds Like you could have a bad Cap and Rotor, push start would at least get some current moving. that's my guess

Battery? When you push start the car, the alternator is spinning, charging up the battery and help run the coil to get enough power to spark. When it is sitting still, the battery might not be strong enough to charge the coil to create a spark.

Ya, but he can crank the engine with the key.

I removed the cables (one by one) and checked for spark.

That was my guess. A weak battery might be causing this but it cranks hard when I turn the key and the battery is 6-7 months old.

Doesnt mean the battery isnt weak though.

Poping the clutch is what its called. Check grounds and check your battery wires. It wouldnt be there rotor becuase if it was you would have no spark/start/clutch popoing starts..etc etc . Its a wire issue

Step 1: Put a breaker bar on the end of the crank snout
Step 2: Make sure the car is in the "on" postion and in neutral
Step 3: Jump like a MF on the breaker bar.
Step 4: Hope the breaker bar and socket fly off without maiming you or the car.
