    E21 Alpina question---

Were the Alpina options offered on other models?

I have a e21 with the correct cluster, seats , steering wheel, and engine. I am not 100% sure that this is one of 324 built.

Has the 200 hp M30 based 2.8 under the hood, and the brakes are 4 piston front, 2 piston rear.

could this just be a well built e21? Where would I find a alpinia plaque on the car? Would a VIN search show if it is a Alpina?

I will put up pix as soon as I upload my phone tonight.

I am getting to excited about finding a B6 in the salvage yard?

Don't remember seeing an type hardware on older Alpina, has some nice stuff. The vin would be on a panel rivet to the front core support. It would have chassis code etype and weight and engine. As far as alpina's badge? I am not sure they used the stock location some times.

You don't plan sinking alot of dough in to this do you? There is a very nice EU spec E21 in AZ or NM right now cheap under 4K with the toys on this it would save you quite a bit of dough since that is running and driving vs the mess you have there.

my guess would be-- Alpina made Zero u.s. cars back then. and by the hack work all over it- i would say it was an old swap.-- not that I am an expert by any means. that dash looks to be pretty fake-- look at the needles. the outers are white, the inners are red- and a U.S. speeedo wouldnt be orig. alpina gear.
does it have the "alpina" e21 rear diff.? damn they look cool.
I would bet that car is worth pulling a few parts off of but real???? I am not sure if Alpina actually "logged" the cars back then- I think they started the plaques around e30 times.

Agreed most tuners as mentioned frequently in the 70's thru early 80's did not keep acurate track of chassis vins nor specs of how they were built. They were tuners not manufacturers.

Also that stuff would be sweet on a 2002, Is it a 5 speed or just a traditional 4?

Car gave me some flashbacks, I found an alpina e21 in junkyard about six years ago. Complete shitbag but still had the steering wheel, two 15in alpina alloys (with wheel locks) bubble graphics down the side, strange looking (to me at the time) 6 cylinder with CIS. Cool car

I doubt its authentic, maybe just has some goodies. Heres what an alpina cluster looks like. Very similar.

To REALLY be sure (since the dash plaque can be bought on ebay), check the side of the engine block for an Alpina Casting.
