    16k miles on a 91 318is engine for $700

Hey guys i was just wondering what you guys about this deal. The car sat since 96 and i doesn't start now but it turns over. Does anyone know, will the head need to be rebuilt?
The engine comes will a shit load of body parts...(front and rear bumper,hood..etc)

    Any advice is helpful,

    Tony
Sorry for the phone pic quality... :(

You tried to start it after it had been sitting for 13 years? Please tell me you flushed all of the fluids and fuel lines prior to that... there's a lot of prep you need to do after it's been sitting for that long.

That is now most likely in need of a full rebuild. That engine would have so much surface rust inside of it. He should have taken out the plugs first and put some oil down the spark plug holes to lube up the cylinders and free up any rust.

An engine that has been sitting for that long will need lots of prep before you even think about turning it over.

I'd be MUCH more comfortable with a motor that has 100k+ that has been driven recently. After 13 years, you're going to have to do a lot of "refreshing." I'd be worried about scarring of the cylinder walls if he just tried to fire it up. It's not running because the fuel system needs to be flushed/cleaned.

yeah dude, walk away for sure... I'd consider it for $2-300, but DEFINITELY not $700.

Tell him that it needs a full rebuild from sitting so long, and him trying to start it like a dumbass (seriously, who the hell thinks the gas would still be good?). Maybe you can get it for a couple hundred bucks.

That car looks to be worth about $250-300. It is "in the weeds" and a particularly rare or unusual vehicle.
