which engine to play with also (comp test results)

compression 84 318i with 220,00km on it. here are the results

    cyl 4 169
    cyl 3 154
    cyl 2 159
    cyl 1 169

    wet compression test
    cyl 4 169
    cyl 3 170
    cyl 2 170
    cyl 1 179

Iforgot to put the auto tranny in neutral while doing the test like instructions said, not sure of the diff that might make.

    compression 300,000 km 89 325i

    cyl 6 165
    cyl 5 120
    cyl 4 158
    cyl 3 169
    cyl 2 158
    cyl 1 165

did a wet compression test on cyl # 5 and it went up to 135

Heres the compression test from my 89 325i with 300,000km on it.
Question is , i was going to run turbo on the 318i, not sure if that is safe now, so since both engines have questionable compression test results i am wondering which one i should dedicate my winter to. i am not looking at getting anything machined, just replaceing seals/gaskets and cleaning. so what do i go with the m20 with 300,000km on it or the m10 with 220,000km on it.

the 4 cyl looks good to me-- as long as they are all pretty equal across the boardand within 20%?? of each other.

the m20 on the other hand---

the m10 seems solid, the m20 I would definitely not mess with, you'll blow the engine with such an offset compression in #5
