for anyone who knows e36 M3s...

If a car has the "sport" package with vader seats, does that mean the seats are heated? i'm asking for a friend that's looking for a '99 M3 to buy....

    thanks in advance!

The vaders are huge, heavy, and heavily sought after as well. Very supportive. I'm pretty sure they come in manual and power as well as heated and non-heated. I could be wrong about that.
    They're gorgeous either way.

No, for heated seats it would have to have the Winter package, or if it was possible without buying the whole package they would of had to be optioned by themselves.

I dont think there was a 'Sport pkg.' on the e36 M3. I think they all just had vaders, with the exception of the Lux. Pkg. car which had the 328is sport seats wrapped in Nappa.

I'm not a fan of the Vaders though...they're not all that supportive, and they aren't comfortable either...my dad's last M3 had the Lux. Pkg. and those seats weren't extremely supportive either...but much, much more comfortable.

No. Vaders do not automatically mean heated.

            Wow. No no and no.

There is what is called the Sport package and then the Lux package. The sports got the vaders which unless they order the cold weather pack were not heated. They are not power, and they are LIGHT compared to the regular E36 seat. They are closer to the weight of my sport seat.

Since my dads M3 is a Cab its by default the Luxo M3 so we are going to put a set of dove Vaders in since the power seats are like 80lbs.
            Im now E30less.

I under the impression that vaders were heavy...as in, not as light as such a sporty seat should be. No lighter than a normal seat, and probably heavier than a manual cloth seat.
But then again, i don't have any numbers to back that up.

Okay, comming from an E36 guy. Owned one, about to buy another. E36 M3's NEVER had a Sport Package. They had the base model, which included Vaders, wrapped in Nappa Leather. A no cost option was the Cloth/Alcantra seats, which in 95 are super rare. In 1999, some cars are covered in Montana leather, while later models again in Nappa leather. Heated, power seats are pretty much the standard in 99, but there are also exceptions. You have pretty much fully loaded with cruise control, or base with nothing. My heated non-power vaders weighed 64lbs each. My Recaro SRD's weighed 52lbs each. With sliders and mounting brackets, my SRD's are around 65 pounds, so in retrospect, the vaders about the same weight. The Vaders in the world of car seats are very supportive, but nothing compared to the aftermarket. Heated powered vaders are in the 80 lb range!

P.S. The closest thing to a 'sport' package is the 95 base model. Came with cloth/alcantra seats and no sunroof. Included 11 button OBC, and no cruise control!

i no nothing about the weights of the seats but i have had experience where i can tell you about comfortability (my dad owns a e36 m3). for me the vaders werent that comfortable and didnt really hold me in. however my dad says that have much better support for his back. my e30 sport seats are MUCH more comfortable and hold very well.

Ok, got alot of answers to work with here, but the consensus says that vaders dont instantly mean heat, but a majority of vaders might be heated.

works for me! Thanks for all the quick replies guys.

My buddy has a '99 Estoril blue/dove M3 with no sunroof, manual vaders without heat and a few other options removed. it was made to be as light and stiff as possible from the origonal buyer who ordered it that way, and then my friend bought it at 9k miles, lucky bastard...
