you need to goto the dealer yourself with proof of ownership. Be prepared to pay a fee for it as well (although you may get it for free)

I think you have to go to the dealer for them to get the code from you deck. Then you have to turn the key to the on position for like an hour then enter the code.

Sometimes they just dont care for older cars. For mine i just called up and the head service dude just gave me the code over the phone. He said considering i knew about the serial number, procedure, security locks etc, and since the car was 14 years old he didn't care. But yeah, usually you have to go in and get the number yourself, with ID and proof of ownership.

...its not true....you turn on the key and enter the code. very simple. on the other hand if you do not enter the right code the first time then you have to wait for an hour.

True...I have had to get and enter my radio code a total of 4 times in 3 years. lol DON'T ask.

My mechanic was able to get it very easily. charged me 20 bucks. I think it gives you 3 chances to get the code right. then locks up. RTFM. lol Read the manual...it is in there.

                  :)

                  Good luck

the dealer shouldn't charge you. I've went a lot of times for different radios and they've never charged me.

Dude, your mechanic is ripping you off! (or taking advantage of your inability to write things down).

I've dealth with both BMW of Arlington and Hammersley Motors and never ever been charged. $20 is crazy.. course having to get it 4 times for the same car is too :-p

I should have clarified...Mechanic charged Previous owner 20 bucks when I ran the battery down. (I drove it for a year before it was mine) I have called him 3 other times to get it as I kept loosing the paper I wrote it down on. :) (had battery issues, finally got a new battery) Never charged me to retrive the code from his own records once he had it. SHOULD have though. I might have not lost it so many times.

                        ;)
