I have a guy that wants to buy a bare S50 block off me. I want to give him a good deal because he will give me a parts hook up later, but I have to figure out what the thing is worth. Any ideas? I would say it is a roughly 120k block with nothing attached.
What is an S50 bare block worth?

$25, at least to me.
Complete motors are too cheap. Unless he is doing some uber-race build or already has all the accessories/brackets/etc.Need parts now? Need them cheap? steve@blunttech.com

Actually, the guy is an engine builder and just needs a bare S50 block. Complete motors aren't $25 cheap.-P

Ask $300 see what he says. Complete 2.8L's are running in the $650 to $1300 depending on mileage. 3.0L's are $800 to $2000 depending on who's selling em.Comment

If you want to give him a "good deal", just tell him it's free? What's it worth to you sitting around doing nothing? Karma will get you back soon enough and you'll be happy.sigpic<< wreckedComment

That isn't a bad idea. He can get me custom HC pistons for the M5 and he is working on billet tool steel cams for M5x/S5x engines, so I'm sure the karma would be helpful when it is time to buy that stuff.-P
