    Mounting a sunroof visor.

I got a sunroof visor from the junkyard, but I was wondering on how it is mounted. I didnt get to see how from the car I pulled it from because the sunroof was closed (and i didnt want to mess the sunroof up in getting the hardware in case someone else needed a sunroof). So I am hoping Home depot will have what I need, but can anyone tell me what I need and how it mounts to the car. I know there is a tab that is attached to the sunroof mechanism and sticks out the seem, but I just want to see pics.

you need theses little metal clips that go down into the front slit in the sun roof.
also those wind deflectors are very ugly, i took mine off and it had etched dirt and debris into my paint.

with some fabbing you could make some, but why bother?

go back to your wrecking yard and get those clips

you can open the sunroof manually with a 4mm allen wrench

I just wanted to see what it would look like with my roof rack. After all, they can be taken off pretty easily. I guess I got to go back to the yard then huh. No one has pics?

                a) this pic is not of my car

                b) i loved this style of deflector on my integra.. on the e30 - not so much

                c) the thin metal strips that sticks out - they basically connect to deflector via screws. the part of the strip you don't see basically has a hook-shape that 'hooks' to the roof lip which runs perimiter of opening.

                d) the reason I saved this pic is because it clearly shows typical aftermath of deflector to roof paint

                Nutshell:
                - those tabs are thin-ass metal and would be a challenge to duplicate from anything Home Depot offered (i'd go and nab them from the yard)

Hey - again, I loved having the sunroof open on my integra- and the deflector it had provided super-quiet air circulation in the cabin. I'd take it off during winter but even as clean as I kept it - it also put a burn in the roof paint. It'a a rubber seal held on by clips and receives a high degree of wind buffeting. Small paticles of dust get in there and slowly grind paint away. If you have a roof rack - i'd look into a roof rack fairing.

Hmm, you all may be right. Its just that I thought my car would look nice with it, but oh well. I definitely dont want my paint to endure that damage.
