    82 323 german spec?

Hey.. I just bought an 82 323 german spec. I know.. I'm an awful traitor. It IS an E21. I just recently purchased it on ebay and I am supposed to pick it up Saturday. It was one of those impulsive decisions I made, to bid on it that is, and now I'm a little nervous about getting it. Anyway.. does anyone have any experience with these cars? Any advice?

Body has 155,000 on it. Engine had a stock rebuild and has 75000 on it since rebuild. It's in NC. One spot of surface rust. Supposedly none anywhere else. (I hear rust is a real problem with E21s) Has original recaros.

If anybody has any info for me on E21s.. links to good website.. etc. It would be great!

    Thanks

      ~150hp IIRC.

        I believe the 323 has Bosch K-Jetronic.

            e21 sites are:
            -the e21 board on bimmerforums
-bmw320i.com......but, not everyone can register to that site...not sure why
-tricord's forum....there's a general & tech forum.....and this is the site where most of the 6cyl e21 guys hang out
-and also the roachfly e21 forum (lots of newbies & a considerable amount of misinformation)

k-jet can be a little nit picky especially when a little something goes bad....but for the most part it is a pretty dam reliable & rugged setup.

as far as rust is concerned.....it's probably the same deal w/ 2002's: u'll see lots of midwest & eastern e21's with rust, while in the southwest & west side u can find rust free e21's no problem. there are a couple areas that are more prone to rust on the car.....like under the rear window sills and at the rear-corners of the engine bay.

i'm sure u'll love ur 323i, but u may want to upgrade the suspension to get rid of that infamous e21 body roll (there's someone selling a pair of front 323i koni's on tricord's forum)

It is an 139hp engine with K jetronic, wich is the same as the early E30's
'84 (or late '83) models have the L jetronic wich increases the power with 11hp
              Type : 23 6E B
              Displacement: 2316 cc
              Bore (mm) 80
              Stroke ( mm) 76.8
              Comp. Rate 9.8:1
              Max output 102kW 139hp @ 5300
              Max torque 205Nm @ 4000
              Max rpm 6200

and as far as I know is the engine nor so different from the 150hp version

A friend of mine, Brandon Whitehead, runs this site.

He lives right down the road from me. He is one of the most knowledgable e21 323i guys you will find.
