    Isuzu Rodeo???

Thinking about picking one up for my girlfriend. Any opinions? Anything I need to know or check before buying one?

I always find this site helpful and it seems to be pretty accurate.

my brother in laws 2001 Rodeo has the rear trailing arm bracket break off the truck. No rust around it, just bad welds. Other side is rusted from the back of the rear door to above the wheel, a screw driver can be punched through the frame. Caused some other damage, so they are sitting on the car waiting for NHTSA to file a claim with Izuzu/Subaru/Honda.... this happened to at least 30 people. Truck is otherwise perfect.

cliff: check the rear end for rust/problems

alright, picked up 97 Rodeo. 3.2L 24v. Green, runs great, has a tow hitch.

Now I need to get new tires and all new brakes.

They're decent trucks. Not the most powerful, but they get good gas mileage and good for getting around town.

After having an Isuzu NPR truck for the business for about 5 years I can confidently say that I will never purchase another Isuzu vehicle again. Terrible fit & finish. Terrible design in many places (i.e. shifter won't go into 3rd or 5th with your fingers still on the front side of the knob). Terrible.....everything. Cheap, cheap, cheap, cheap, cheap...

We bought it because the price seemed right & we had very good results with the Isuzu diesels in both our S10 and Chevette. (yes, we owned both!)

They always seem to be burning tons of oil when I see them on the road.

Good you got the older generation with the IMO better 3.2. We have 3 troopers and they are all great! My father DDs a 97 trooper with 230k, and our 91 has 295k and has been completely bullet proof. Its a shame isuzu always gets a bad rap, they did make some good suv's.
