just so you know - installing single wiper conversion is Hitler's curse, you'll hate the day you decided to do that..

+1 its one of the worst jobs on an e30.

try it. its a nightmare to try and maneuver all of those parts and to align it all perfectly in an area where your hands barely fit andyou cant see.

I used to work in a BMW independent for a season. Just to learn a few tricks. In fact, I was teaching the other certified mechanics my tricks. They would usually require about 45 minutes to remove the assembly. I had a gift, perhaps, but I would take about 10 minutes total. I guess it can be a difficult operation if you don't "feel" it. Actually, whenever there was an assembly to swap, I would do it.

BTW To do the job right, the plastic cover from a RHD car is required on the side where the wiper is removed. Basically you chop the portruding shaft and fit a RHD plastic cover.

having done about 30 i can do they quick also. but for anyone trying it for the first or 2nd time its a real pain.

did you ever try to fit the rhd panel ? i believe the cut linkage would stick up too far.

Last time I saw a RHD cover, it was the same a LHD, except that the hole for the stub was not punched out. The stub on the assembly must be cut flush with the bolt.

cutting the linkage down that far cuts through the assemble framing leaving no way to support that side of the linkage

Whaever goes above the wide flat nut is not needed. Anyway, my memory might be playing tricks. I did this stuff about 15 years ago. I will look closely next week.

I bought a RHD piece but never did the conversion. I did some research here and from what I recall, it won't fit. Check this thread out:
