i read that when doing the m50 e30 you need a brake booster from the e21 but i also read that an e30 325ix porsche944 porsche 924 and the 2002 also work. but it said all need some sort of customization and threading and grinding to make them fit. what is going to be the cheapest and easiest to do?

This answer is ALL OVER THIS FORUM. As are all the other questions relating to a swap.
Go to the 24v DOHC swap section and READ.
The easiest thing to do is buy a brake booster from THR. But I'm betting you aren't going to do that.Need parts now? Need them cheap? steve@blunttech.com

Wow this guy Tony asked a question and everyone flips outs and replies with "fuck you do a search" rather than helping him out and replying with a helpful answer. I dont think Id ever want to meet 90% people who post on r3v nor do I think they would want to meet me either because my shit does stink.Ma che cazzo state dicendo? :|

I googled "e21 booster m50 swap" and the first link on top has all the info. If somebody cannot make a simple search, I can't imagine the rest of the swap. I hope I don't come as insulting the OP, it's not my intention, but such project require either a bit of sweat, or a few searches on the net.
Brake Booster:
Use an E21 320I brake booster. Some people use 325IX brake boosters but 320I boosters are cheaper and allow you to use your stock master cylinder. One big drawback to an E21 brake booster is a noticible reduction in power assistance. To make the 320I brake booster work in your E30 you will need to cut the shaft off to the same length as your E30 booster, grind it down to the same thickness and thread it with a 10X1.5mm dye. Be careful here, if you screw it up you will need to go out and get another booster, the shafts are non replaceable. Don’t forget to grind off some of the fins on the back of the intake manifold to clear the brake booster.
How easier could it have been? There are hundreds on precisely documented swapped out there. And the one here also has all the proper info and part numbers...Last edited by Massive Lee; 01-03-2010, 06:21 PM.Brake harder. Go faster. No shit.
