    Oh No! It's the FNG!!!

    Hey Guys,
Just wanted to introduce myself to the R3vlimited Community. The name is Will (if the lame user name didn't give it away) and I just recently purchased a 1985 BMW 318i 5 speed from a friend for 1K with 168K on the odometer. I'm already in love with the car, and I've only had it for a total of 3 days. I'm hoping to start modding the car ASAP, but I would like to get the general maintenance or any work that's needed on the car done first before I go crazy with it.

Here is a pic of my "new" car...

I was personally thinking of changing out the headlights to some brighter lights (HID's) as a first mod, but I believe I have the headlights I can't modify. I was searching through the forum (Yes, I know how to use the search feature) and found I can either go with the Hella headlights, or get the Ellips headlights as well. But what would be an inexpensive option? Preferences?

If anyone has some other suggestions to some simple mods I can do now, I would really appreciate the feedback. Still learning about BMW's so please forgive my questions.

    Thanks,
    Will

Looks good for a grand. As for the headlights, you shouldn't be putting HID bulbs in halogen lamps anyway.

Yeah man, I've seen alot of E36 BMW's in the Valley, but hardly any E30's. What part of the valley do you live?

Working on getting some interior shots. This was a pic of when I picked up the car from my friend.

Yeah, I know. I just can't stand the look of the headlights. I can't see anything driving at night. I'm sure it's just cause the lights are old and need to be replaced. But this is why I asked for a suggestion on what to do about them.

                  that was sarcasm right?

Ninja Edit: and i would suggest ellips, better visibility and looks better with hids.

                      Yeah, it was a joke.

Ok, so poking around the forum it seems like Ellips are the way to go. But some people are for and against HID's it seems like. I honestly don't mind if it's a Sylvania bulb, I just want to replace the old crappy ones on the car now.

Im up in Sylmar. As far as lighting the cheapest way to go is swapping out to some US ellips. I found my set in the junkyard for about 30$. Other sets go for about 100$+

Anyways goodluck with your car and don't forget to check out the California section for updates on meets and more:http://r3vlimited.com/board/forumdisplay.php?f=152

Welcome. Like everyone stated above ,make it to one are monthly meets. Lights get the stock ellips and then you can get HIDs for that. More pics needed! Ohh yea a 4.10 diff would be nice on a m10
