So how rare is the 1984 533i?

Wikipedia says they were only made from 1983-1984 in "limited quantities". Are these cars pretty desirable? because i know the E28 535 is, and the 533 has a similar engine, with only 1 less hp and some less torque.

feel free to flame me for asking this random E28 question on an E30 forum, but this forum kicks way more ass than mye28.com does.

    Thanks.

well I have seen more 533i's around here in Canada, even owned one myself actually. I wouldn't go as far as to call them rare though.

not rare. less common than the 535 but both are far from rare. its actually kinda funny you say the 535 is "desirable", its basically the 325i of e28s, but nothing special. i see a lot of 733s around here.

the early 1983 533's were more desirable in my opinion... light weight single mass flywheel and a hotter cam... i could care less about any other ones.

Yeah i was thinking of the 535 being more desirable than the 528e for example.

I don't see why the 533i would any more desirable. I owned one. It had no ABS and was not any lighter than a 535i which had a better engine.

The desirable e28s are the Euro models (very, very light) and the M5.

But hey. It's only an opinion.

              Thanks.

I know what your saying-- i recently got me an e28- checked out that forum and cannot even get myself to sign up.

533i e28s are something I have never even seen over here-- but the 633's used to be a bit "common".
I would guess the 535i is the more desireable of them just due to the more options on em.
I just converted my 525e to a 527i "2.5i top end with a 520i wiring harness"-- yep, I imagine its still going to be a turd.

                paging euroshark....

the '84s had the light flywheel and a hot cam, and the later 535i with the M30b34 made up for that with increased displacement, thus they have a little more power capacity. There were some other interior changes when they switched engines iirc. The only reason they are more rare is because they weren't in production as long as the b34 cars were.

Not so much rare as old, if you wanted to buy any big block e28 you'd have trouble finding it, but not much more than any other 20 year old car. Of the 4 e28s I've purchased 2 x 528e, 1 x 533i, 1 x 535i, good little cars.

This place is like catholic school, 2/3 of the students smoke weed on a daily basis, but the faculty seems to convince the outside world that drugs are just in the other schools, the resident pot dealer thinks he's cool because he has the originality to call anyone he doesn't like a homosexual, and most of the little children follow him like sheep, then there's the few with brains, you hardly ever hear from them, perhaps don't even know they exist, but they get all the sh!t done.

I'm pretty sure they're fairly rare, 1500 or so. Not particularly valuable though.

Just doesn't make sense to me why anyone would bother with a B32 or B34... the B35 is the king of M30s, and it's not like it's hard to find or expensive.
