new to the forums. from bmw to bmw

just wanted to chime in and say hi to you rev guys.

i guess you can consider me new. ive always skimmed the forums as a guest. just never registered til now. ive always been on bimmerforums so a proper hi is needed here :)

not really new to bmws either. i was an owner of a 99 e36 m3 for 6 years. which i happened to have to give up due to family issues. my dad has an e46 m3 and used to own an 87 e30 325i. so i guess you can say i have the passion for bmws in my veins :)

being that i lost my dd. and ive always had a soft spot for e30s. im now in the market for an e30 dd for work and school as an art major

and as im new to e30s... what issues should i look for while im shopping for one? i hear a lot about this timing belt issue. i have no problem working on my car if i need to unless if im missing tools so i can have a shop look at it. i know of all the e36's suspension bushing, rear shock tower, cooling system, and other issues. and im wondering if e30s had the same troubles

any specific models/years i should avoid? and other things to look out for?

i have big plans for the e30. so youll see me around here. or if not, then under the same name at bf.c
    /cheers

That is one of the few E36's I like. Nice and subtle with the looks. Hopefully you can bring the same thing to an E30.

Now that's an E36 I'd drive. Great looking car.
Do you have that rare orange color looking interior? It starts with an M or something..
          My favorite apart from Dove.

Welcome! We do have e30 meets in LA just so you know. Personally, year wise find your self a 88-91 325is. What range are you willing to spend?

yeah ive always been a sucker for the aggressive oem look. my e36 was never as low as i wanted it to be... but it was as low as los angeles streets allowed it to be haha. the e30 will be given the same treatment

modena? unfortunately, it wasnt modena. i had a tan interior. it only looks orange-ish because of the sunset on the interior

yeah ive been to a few meets with my e36 a few years ago... im an la native :)

in terms of price range im thinking 2.5k atm. and any reason why you suggested an 88-91 model?

                        Hey man, welcome to R3V.

Most guys prefer the plastic bumpers, thus the 88 and up. (88s are an easy swap).

Great looking E36...got a spare M52 hanging around?

heh i wish. my m3's s52 engine barely hit 88k for an 11 year old car. and it was very solid.

yeah from what ive read now i guess the 88+ 325i is the way to go. yeah im sorry i couldnt afford to get a pristine e30 m3, slap my rs' on there, and have the whole car repainted orange... so i had to settle for a crappy e36 m3

                            *sarcasm off*

i still like your car though :D
